This year’s AUAWIRLEBEN will take place from May 2nd to May 13th 2012 in Berne, Switzerland. This will be the 30th edition of the festival. The programme will be released on March 20th.
Venues: Schlachthaus Theater, Dampfzentrale, Zentrum Paul Klee, Vidmar:1, Tojo Theater and the festival centre at Turnhalle / PROGR.
Annually for the last 30 years AUAWIRLEBEN has been combining independent theatre productions with productions of established theatre institutions. The festival presents an aesthetically interesting mixture which gives a glimpse on the development of today's theatre. For each festival edition there is a theme, verbalised in a "code". During ten days spectators and theatre artists get together and exchange views: independent as well as institutionalised groups, newcomers and well-known artists meet within the festival. In the festival centre everyone has a chance to hang out together and watch late-night performances, turning night into day.
