auawirleben brings together professionals from the fields of theatre and dance from different language regions of Switzerland for a 6-day Lab to discuss the productions of the festival programme as well as their own work under a particular point of view.

This year's thematic focus of the Lab revolves around the act of remembering. What do we remember when we see a show? Which part sticks with us and enters our brain and what detail gets immediately forgotten? How do we make our audiences remember us? And on another level, we are opening up the question of what does a performance itself remember? Every production is documenting something – be it an imagination or be it a documentary piece with excerpts from someone’s life or historic events. Through theatre we reproduce thoughts and stories, we document what we are processing and what moves us. Is theatre the art of remembering?
